The Benefits of a Zodiac
A Zodiac provides a unique way to view the marine environment. The increased speed and range assures the best opportunity to view wildlife. A 240 ° view for passengers means complete immersion in the amazing environment of Northern Vancouver Island.
The engines are top of the line, very quiet at idle, and have extremely low emission rates. A zodiac has enhanced stability; sea sickness is extremely rare, even for those who are prone. All safety gear is provided onboard the tour, and both the vessel and operator are fully compliant with Transport Canada safety regulations. A floater suit, warm gloves, and everything you need fora safe and comfortable journey are included for your use. It’s the most exciting and personal way to observe wildlife.

After several years working as a guide, skipper and naturalist, I saw a unique opportunity to start a diverse and flexible tour operation. I wanted my trips to focus on reflecting the fun, freedom and beauty I experienced in exploring BC’s coastal wilderness, and O.R.C.A. Ltd. was born.
Wildlife and wilderness are my passion! I’m an avid scuba diver, hiker, boater, environmentalist and amateur photographer. Raised in New Westminster, near Vancouver, my home base has been Port McNeill for nearly a decade now, but work takes me coast wide by times. I am involved in many different jobs on the coast, from running my tourism business to tending trails and campsites, guiding, working as a skipper, deck hand or cook on ships, in Fisheries Observations, and running Water Taxi. I’d say I have a unique perspective of life on the coast, with contacts and friends involved in many aspects of coastal living.
As much as I can, I maintain my own boat and gear, meaning that I take the utmost care of my equipment, and that you get the highest level of personal attention. I strive to offer first class service and makes everyone comfortable. Between my clients and I, at the end of the day, we often feel like we’ve made new friends and lifelong connections, and this is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job! Sharing my view of our wilderness is a great pleasure, and I am honoured to have you aboard.
